GREAT CLOUD SANGHA
Jacksonville, Florida
“Our mission is to establish a harmonious community wherein each individual can develop the skills to alleviate their own suffering and the suffering of others. We vow to live our lives in a moral and mindful way, grounded in Zazen meditation.”
The Jacksonville Soto Zen Meditation Group began in 2013 and continues today, informally adopting the name the Great Cloud Sangha. Here we provide a refuge for people wishing to practice. Zen is compatible with all faith based relations and other spiritual practices.
The Sangha is led by Sensei Ungan Bill Mayhew and was ordained by Taiun Elliston Roshi, Abbot of the Silent Thunder Order in Atlanta, Georgia. Following the Matsuoka lineage.
Please note we are currently meeting in person and via Zoom platform. In person sitting is hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jacksonville. We meet in the Susan B Anthony room both on Monday nights and Saturday afternoons.
We place signs to help point the way. Located off Arlington Expressway, use the Arlington or Arlingwood exit to access the North Service Road. The church is shrouded by the oak trees and hardly visible from the street, secluded amongst the city.
