Ninth Annual STO Training Retreat & Conference
Zen Pioneer, Soyu Matsuoka Roshi's 80th Anniversary
of Coming to America:
(Reflecting on his Life, Legacy & STO Path Ahead)
Tuesday, October 1 - Sunday, October 6
Atlanta Soto Zen Center
The STO Annual Training Retreat and Conference is a time for our diverse and widespread sangha to come together to reflect on our founder Matsuoka Roshi’s pioneering efforts to bring Buddha’s teaching to the west and rededicating ourselves to bringing his ‘Living Zen’ to our local sanghas and communities. During our 6-day meditation retreat, through daily dharma talks, we will look at Matsuoka Roshi’s, life, legacy and STO path ahead. We will have daily Zen Training opportunities covering:
- Leading Soto Zen Mediation
- Leading a Zen Dhama Dialog
- Leading Zen Sanga Ceremonies
The week will conclude with a Special Ceremony Honoring Matsuoka Roshi.
The retreat will incorporate the STO Annual Conference on October 5. The annual meeting of the Silent Thunder Order Board of Directors this year will focus on implementing our strategic plan covering 2018-2023. The plan is a central guide showing how we will move forward in sharing the Dharma.
We hope to see you in Atlanta in October.
